This new 640 sf ADU was built as a one bedroom, one bathroom structure. The project was approved to exceed the maximum allowable height limit in order to access enough sunlight to power its photovoltaic system.

This additional height created opportunities for vaulting the ceilings to create an interior loft space for storage.  It’s soaring height and use of wood on the interior make the spaces feel airy and uplifting, and the overall sense is that the spaces are larger than they really are.
